Welcome!

My name is Pat Crowley and I am running for Kalamazoo County Drain Commissioner. The Drain Commissioner manages the quality and quantity of the waters in our streams and lakes by controlling stormwater and reducing soil erosion.

Though Kalamazoo County has nearly one quarter of a million residents, more than 360 lakes and ponds, and hundreds of miles of streams, rivers, and drains, we have never had a Drain Commissioner who was qualified and experienced in Water Resources Management.

I have spent my entire career developing the skills it takes to understand complex soil and water relationships. I have a master’s degree in Water Resources Management; a PhD in soil and water physics from MSU; and 25 years of experience working with people in all aspects of the water cycle. I have successfully taken on many difficult challenges and I respect a wide variety of opinions. I can provide Kalamazoo County with inspired leadership that is sensitive, practical, and trustworthy.

Our Water and People

Listen to a podcast of my interview with Katie Houston at Kalamazoo County Democratic Party Headquarters. While you listen, enjoy some of the photos I took on one hot July afternoon in Kalamazoo County. These are only a few of the many ways water is important to us. It may take a minute or so for the presentation to load. If you cannot see the presentation, download the latest plugin from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

The pod cast is also available at http://www.kzoodems.com/content/crowley.  I really hope you like it!
